Getting divorced

If you get divorced, and your pension scheme includes a spouse’s or cohabitant’s pension, you can only opt out of the spouse’s or cohabitant’s pension if you are not obliged to provide maintenance to your spouse. You can, however, opt out of the pension if your divorced wife renounces the maintenance obligation.

If you are cohabiting without being married, you can always opt out of the spouse’s or cohabitant’s pension.
